Volfas Engelman - BALTA PINTA
The taste properties and aroma of wheat beer reveal best of all if it is poured into a cup intended for namely this sort – with a narrow bottom and widened top. In such cup the carbonic acid bubbles effervesce slowly protecting the expressiveness of the beer and forming especially solid foam. Before serving wheat beer it is recommended to cool it up to 8-10 degrees C temperature, then its properties will reveal best of all. Besides it is advisable to rinse the cup before use in cold water
(especially on a hot summer day).
It is a certain ritual to pour the wheat beer from a bottle to a cup. Traditionally an empty cup is put on the bottle, then the bottle with the cup is overturned and the beer is poured by slowly raising the bottle upwards. This ritual was imagined not due to the attractive pouring way, but to make the beer yeast present in the bottle rise from the bottom and evenly spread in the poured cup. When the drink is properly poured, solid foam rises above the cup brim in a wide band as if a cap.
The Bavarian tradition teaches to greet each other in a gentleman’s way by the cup bottom, so that the cap of the white foam would not fall.
